Why do we celebrate Christmas? Maybe we have an answer to that questions, but there is also a high likelihood that we haven’t felt a need to put much thought into it. I think it is an important question and one worth exploring in this Sermon.
Syntysche Groverland discusses the juxtaposition that exists between the joyful holiday season, and the darkest days of the year which occur during the Winter Solstice.
Much of what we know about Christmas comes from movies, stories, sermons, word of mouth and not from the source itself. This has led to a modern holiday based primarily on misinformation and misunderstanding of the actual events that created it.
Most of the misery in the world is manmade because we humans have forgotten our God-given powers to heal. Recently a young lady from India, named Shivani, has figured out how to restore our healing powers and she will talk us through it (on video) this Sunday at the 9am and 11am service. I will also be pointing out where Eckhart Tolle and A Course in Miracles referred to this way of healing in their texts.
In order to get to a destination I desire, I will first have to establish where I am. If I don’t know where I am, no amount of information about the destination will help me get there.
“The Gratitude Effect” by Minister Syntysche Groverland. Your life, although perhaps filled with many imperfections, is still an experience.
“The Consciousness Ballot” by Minister Shad Groverland. Well we voted.. and now what!? Do we celebrate the results, because what we wanted won? Do we mourn the results, because what we wanted lost?
In a world where we have been taught that we have to see it to believe it, you don’t realize that this very statement from educators, parents, etc, is one of the greatest handicaps to your advancement on your spiritual path.
“The Catfish Nipping at My Tail” by Shad Groverland. Sometimes I feel like life gets a kick out of “throwing us a curve ball,” or hitting us with the unexpected. Like it sits back and smiles at a well-orchestrated kerfuffle, twisting us into a perfect Boy Scout style knot that only it could have pulled off with such brilliant execution and precision.
In seeking the treasures of the world, the bible cautions, you may lose your soul. However, if you seek and gain soul awareness the treasures of the world will follow. This is what is meant by the Master’s admonition in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first God’s Kingdom and His/Her righteousness, and all your physical desires will come to you as well.”
“Forty Years With Jack and Norma.” How fitting it is that we, Norma and I, are celebrating our forty year anniversary as Leaders of Unity of Boulder. Moses led the Israelites through the wilderness (of confusion) for forty years to the “Promised Land” (of Enlightened Awareness).
The Call of the Mystic: Part 3 of the Talk Series. I have been a Prosperity Teacher for over 16-years, teaching the tools of the Law of Attraction, what we hold in thought, what we affirm to be, the vibration we hold around any certain circumstance or feeling we will attract back to us. Well this goes against the Mystic’s calling or does it? In this Sermon, I pick apart the truth between these two powerful paths and I will demonstrate how they are more alike than not alike.
Week two of the talk series “The Call of the Mystic” by Shad Groverland. Is your God big enough? Using the human mind to try and comprehend the vastness of God, is likely an impossible task. Even so, we continue attempt to do just that,
What is a Mystic? People say that a mystic is someone who dreams and who lives in the clouds; my answer to this is that the real mystic stands on earth, but his head is in heaven. It is not true that the wise man is not intellectual, or that the wise man is not clever. A clever man is not necessarily wise, but the one who has the higher knowledge has no difficulty in gaining knowledge of worldly things. It is the man who has knowledge of worldly things only who has great difficulty in absorbing the higher knowledge.
“Unity as a Spiritual Movement,” with Ministers Jack, Syntysche & Shad Groverland. For thousands of years religion has tried to sell itself as the solution to our individual and global problems, with dogmatic ideas about how to live and worship.
When I returned from my travels this Summer, having had a much needed rest where I turned my phone off and unplugged from my busy career, from those I counsel as well as my friends – I turned towards my family, my children, my husband, my brothers, my parents seeking solace and peace from the ones I feel most seen and loved.
“Meditation and Pesky Flies” by Shad Groverland
Are You Ready to Live Your Hero’s Journey? There is nothing that helps us grow like getting into an unfamiliar place, and being in a state of allowance for inspiration and vision of a brighter and better life. Where spiritual experiences find you, aha moments of the heart happen just when you are not expecting it. You might find you are more sensitive to everything around you, the smells, the sights and the sounds.
“My Ego is My Frenemy – Part 2,” by Shad Groverland. This week, we expand on that and look at how both of these sides of the ego affect your life and what you can do to manage the shifting polarities that result. This is an applicable talk that leaves you with a tool for living a more balanced and harmonious life.
My Ego is My Frenemy – Part 1. Part 1 of a 2 part sermon series by Shad Groverland titled: “My Ego Is My Frenemy.” Have you ever been among “spiritual” seekers who seem more ego-driven than spirit led? Is it possible some spiritual practices actually inflate the ego instead of diminish it? This Sunday we will start a two part series investigating this issue and whether it is a natural part of spiritual growth or something else. We will also examine how having a clearer understanding of the ego can assist us on our own spiritual journey.
