If you are a sincere seeker of the enlightened consciousness, you will experience it. As a Unity student, you will not necessarily be seeking a guru, for Unity’s approach to enlightenment entails the principles and practices of Karma Yoga.
As a Karma Yogi, you are not required to walk away from any part of your life, unless of course, you are involved in certain illegal activities. Instead, you are called to bring all the aspects of your life, (your work, your family, your personal relationships) into harmony on every level. Making a spiritual practice out of the circumstances of your life, that is using them to align with the Higher or Divine Consciousness, is the practice of Karma Yoga.
Here’s the late guru Ram Dass, from his book ‘Polishing the Mirror’.
“All forms of yoga are ways of coming into union with God. Karma yoga is putting all the activity of your life–work, relationships, service–toward consummating that union. How you go about your work in the world determines whether your work is a vehicle for your spiritual awakening or for getting more caught in maya, increasing the illusion of separation. Karma yoga uses selfless action and service as a way of bringing your life into harmony with the One.”
In short, the practice of Karma Yoga is expressly to release the self from its attachement to the personal advantages and praise of the world and render all actions for the glory and praise of God. Such generates an inner peace and joy in the process.
This Sunday, at Unity of Boulder’s 9AM Guided Group Meditation & Satsang, we will take on the quickest spiritual path to enlightenment.
See You Sunday!
