Seniors Group at Unity Takes on Children’s Writing Project!

Senior adult members of Boulder Unity are participating in a writing project with 3rd graders at Whittier International Elementary School.  The students will soon be given a beautiful, keepsake journal to record their thoughts, interests and responses to being writing pals with a senior adult they will be matched to.

The student will have the journal for a week, do their writing (no minimum or maximum amount) and then it will be given over to the senior adult chosen to be their writing partner.  The adult will then do some writing in the next week.  The journals will go back and forth via Lorri Park, facilitator of the Senior Support Group and Cathy Hill, teacher at the school.   They will distribute the journals all the writing partners when it is time to make the exchange.

There are still about six openings left to participate in the project.  If you are an adult, age 60+ and would like to commit to having a writing partner for the remainder of the school year please contact Lorri at lparkpris@msn.com or via Heather at the Unity office.

The next meeting of the Senior Support Group will be Nov. 6 at 12:30 PM.  A potluck is planned.  All adults, ages 60+ are welcome.  Please contact Lorri if you would like to participate and bring a dish to share.  lparkpris@msn.com

Our second gathering in November will be on the 20th at 2 PM.  We will have a guest speaker that will give us an introduction into the fine art of Compassionate Communication.  (Just in time for those upcoming family get-togethers during the holidays!)  We meet in the Irene German Room downstairs at Unity.
