Unity of Boulder Honors Earth Day Everyday

Heaven is in the midst of you – not somewhere else, according to Jesus (see Luke 17:20-21). Our earth is a beautiful, heavenly creator, with magnificent oceans, mountains, meadows, rivers, forests, deserts, lakes, beaches – all inhabited by the most fascinating creatures, beyond anything mankind has ever imagined.  Knowing this is our heavenly home, we in Unity of Boulder go out of our way to do our part in preserving our fragile, beautiful Mother Earth.  Our church-center was the first in the Boulder area to install a solar panel system on the roof to generate our electricity.  We also installed water-less urinals and short flush toilets to conserve water.  Our heating air condition systems are state of the art, also conserving energy.  Ninety five percent of all lighting inside and outside of our church-center use energy saving light bulbs.  All of the cups, plates and utensils that we use for our fellowship meals are biodegradable, but we use real dishes, coffee mugs, etc., whenever possible.

Unity of Boulder did not submit this post to brag, but to inspire other organizations to join us in caring for our one and only planet.   This Sunday, April 22nd is Earth Day!  We invite you to join the ministry team & staff in wearing your favorite Earth-themed T-shirt or clothing and join us at our 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. services!  Our 9 a.m. service will be a meditation service, and our 11 a.m. service will be a Celebration Service honoring Earth Day with a special “Earth Day” talk by Shad Groverland, and music!

Jeanny and I forgot to hand back our slips of paper on April 22, listing the things we do to protect, honor and love the Earth. So, here is a list of things we choose to do day in and day out.
    1. Use things as long as possible. 2. Recycle. 3. Compost. 4. Use glass and paper (rather than plastic). 5. Garden. 6. Walk. 7. Bike. 8. Cook (rather than prepackaged foods). 9. Watch the sunset rather than the news on tv. 10. Listen to the birds. 11. Be grateful.
