Join our New Unity Singing Group for Summer Festivals

Voices of Unity

The Music Department is excited to announce that we are forming a new singing group for Unity, called Voices of Unity. The idea is that the group would perform at summer fairs, festivals & farmers’ markets around the Boulder area to publicize Unity in a fun way. If you love to sing and love Unity, we’d love to have you.

Rehearsals

We will begin rehearsals, facilitated by Erinna Groverland, starting Thursday, May 2nd at 6:00 pm. We will start with just a few songs, and build up our repertoire from there. The idea is to do fun, popular songs that encourage others to sing along, such as Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”, The Beatles’ “All You Need is Love”, Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the World”, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”, etc. – songs with a positive message.

May festivals

Our first “gig” will be to sing a couple of numbers at the Unity of Boulder booth at the Erie Town Fair on Saturday, May 18th, time TBD. We may make it more of a Flash Mob, where we all nonchalantly walk to a certain area and then just start singing. We’ll have to see how it works out.

Our second “gig” will be similar to the first, but will be at the Boulder Creek Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday-Monday, May 25th-27th, time TBD. Unity of Boulder has a booth there for all three days, and we’ll work out a schedule for when we would sing at the booth or do a Flash Mob.

Additional Performances

We will have more opportunities to perform as the summer goes on, but we need to put together some numbers first, try them out at these festivals in May, and go from there. We may have the opportunity to do the music for an entire Farmers’ Market later in the summer!

If you have questions, feel free to email Erinna at erinna@unityofboulder.com. Otherwise, just show up for rehearsal on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:00 pm and let’s have some fun!!
