We are pleased to announce our Annual Native American Gift and Food Drive is underway!
Every year we have a Gift Drive for the children and elders of the Wounded Knee Reservation in South Dakota. This Sunday, there will be a Giving Tree in the main lobby stairwell where you can choose the name of a child in need of a gift. As well, we have posted a list of Christmas Dinner items needed for this year’s community Feast. We will be collecting gifts and food until December 18 at 4:00 pm.
We have a Giving Tree with the names of children from ages 6 months to 18 years. Our Giving Tree provides holiday (Giving Season) gifts to the Lakota children of the Wounded Knee Reservation. We hope you’ll join in the Holiday Spirit of giving and visit our tree.
Here’s How The Giving Tree Works…
Our Giving Tree is located in the stairwell of the main lobby at Unity. Choose a name from the tree and purchase a new item for the child. Wrap the gift with the tag securely fastened to the outside of the package.
Place the package under the Giving Tree. We will deliver the gifts to the Head Start Community Center at Wounded Knee on Friday, Dec. 20 where the families gather for their annual Christmas Party and Santa will hand out the presents.
We also have a gift wrapping station set up in Fellowship Hall during the Christmas Season if you would like to wrap your gifts here.
We are also collecting food items to give the gift of a bountiful Holiday Feast to our Brothers and Sisters at Wounded Knee.
We have an extensive list in the main lobby of our sanctuary. Please consider what you are able to contribute. When you bring in your items, please write the pledge of the amount and type of item you donated on our food chart in the lobby. We are in need of the following items…
