We are pleased to announce that our 2020 Holiday Gift Drive for the Community of Wounded Knee is underway!
Every year we host a Holiday Gift Drive for the Lakota children and elders of the Community of Wounded Knee, South Dakota. We collect food items for the Community Holiday Dinner and gift items for the Children’s Christmas Party (see detailed list of items needed below), and deliver them in time for the Celebration.
Everyone is welcome to help bring a joyous and sharing Holiday Season to our Lakota Brothers & Sisters. We have a Giving Tree in the main lobby stairwell where you can choose the name of a child in need of a gift. We also have a list of Christmas Dinner items needed for this year’s community dinner.
We will be collecting gifts and food until December 22nd at 4:00 pm. This year’s delivery truck has been donated by U-Haul and will be heading North in time for Christmas Eve delivery. So get your gifts wrapped soon and please tag all wrapped packages with the age range (and size, if applicable) of the item gifted.
We would like to thank Harmony Preschool, our Unity of Boulder Volunteers, Share-A-Gift Foundation, Toys for Tots, Wounded Knee Headstart Program, U-Haul, our dedicated Winter Drivers, and the entire Community of Boulder for your support and for contributing many years of Holiday Cheer to this effort. We appreciate you all!

Thank you again for your Giving Spirit, Kindness and Generosity!
Thank you for giving!
Here’s How The Giving Tree Works…
Every year during our Holiday Gift Drive for the children and elders of the Wounded Knee Reservation we trim a Giving Tree with the names of children from ages 6 months to 18 years. Our Giving Tree provides holiday (Giving Season) gifts to the Lakota children of the Wounded Knee Reservation. We hope you’ll join in the Holiday Spirit of giving and visit our tree.
Our Giving Tree is located in the stairwell of the main lobby at Unity. Choose a name from the tree and purchase a new item for the child. Wrap the gift with the tag securely fastened to the outside of the package (please clearly mark the child’s name and age on the tag).
Place the package under the Giving Tree. We will deliver the gifts to the Head Start Community Center at Wounded Knee the week of Christmas where the families gather for their annual Christmas Party and Santa will hand out the presents.
We have an extensive list of items needed in the main lobby of our sanctuary. Please consider what you are able to contribute. When you bring in your items, please write the pledge of the amount and type of item you donated on our food chart in the lobby. We are in need of the following items…
