Results for the BOCO Gold 2018 Vote were published in the September 28, 2018 Issue of the Daily Camera (see article about Unity on page 46)and Unity of Boulder Church made first place for the category “Best Place for Worship!”
Unity of Boulder Church is less a church and more a spiritual movement inclusive of many religions and teachings. Unity, which has its roots in Christianity, embraces diversity, community, acceptance and the Truth of Love that unites everyone. It’s a movement with more than 500 churches worldwide, but in the early 1960s, there was no location in Boulder, so a home prayer group got started and soon acquired its first of three buildings before settling in its current location in 1993. In 1978, the church was large enough to hire a minister, Jack Groverland, one of three co-ministers of the church, along with his son, Shad and daughter, Syntysche. The church offers two Sunday services, a gift shop that’s open Tuesday through Friday and on Sunday, and Wednesday healing meditations, along with classes on Unity teachings, yoga classes, group studies and support groups.
“From Buddhism and Taosim to Hinduism and Judaism, we embrace all of them as equal and valuable paths to connecting with God, or what we might more generally call the Divine” Shad said. “Our services are designed to be an experience, not just a message. We want you to feel, as much as learn.” [Daily Camera, Boulder County Gold, September 28, 2018 issue]
